The University of Delaware (UD) marries an illustrious heritage with an enlightened vision:
- UD is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the United States, tracing its roots to 1743. Three students, from the first class of the school that was UD’s predecessor, went on to sign the Declaration of Independence.
- We are one of the oldest PhD granting departments at UD and is one of two top departments in the College of Arts and Sciences ranked by the National Research Council (NRC).
- The Department has consistently garnered millions of dollars of grant support from federal agencies such as NIH and NSF and faculty members are international leaders in their specific subdisciplines in Psychology.
Graduate and undergraduate students receive superior training in many fields of psychology and frequently nominate faculty members for teaching awards. - Faculty advisors are actively engaged in mentoring graduate students, giving thoughtful advice and empowering students to pursue independent research interests.
